Introduction of Guangdong Ocean and Fishery Nature Reserve Management Office

Guangdong Ocean and Fishery Nature Reserve Management Office (GDOFNR) was set up in 2002. Up to now, it is the only provincial administration to manage the ocean nature reserves in China. The GDOFNR mainly takes charge of the following works: programming the ocean and aquatic style nature reserves, supervising, organizing and harmonizing and publicizing the ocean environmental protection in Guangdong Province. Since the foundation of the GDOFNR, it fastened the opportunity to develop and promote the constructions of nature reserves with high efficiency energetically. At the same time, good developing situations have been built , which could obtain many more supports from the local governments and the participation of local people. The GDOFNR has greatly promoted the development of the construction of the ocean and fishery nature reserves in Guangdong Province. The GDOFNR was awarded as the National Advanced Collectivity in Nature Reserve Management in 2006.
